How bad were your middle school experiences?

There was a girl that I was friends with since 4th grade. Everything was fine until we hit middle school. She got pretty and I had a bad case of awkward 12 year old, so needless to say she didn’t want to be seen with me.

My poor 12 year old self was a bit oblivious to bitchery. I would put my things down on the lunch table while I bought food, and by the time I returned my things would be thrown onto another cafeteria, with another girl claiming my spot. I was shy and incapable of standing up for myself. I continued to try to sit at this table the whole year, until a breaking point (which I will get to later). She also offered to make me an origami birthday present, and said she would give it to me at my birthday party. Birthday came, she flaked, and I asked about the gift she had talked about for over a month. She decided to keep it for herself.

Then one day I got to school, and one of her friends approached me. “(Girl) thinks you’re ugly, stupid, fat, and annoying, and she doesn’t want to be friends with you anymore.” She was my only “friend” at that school, so needless to say I cried in front of the whole cafeteria. At the end of the day when I got on the bus to go home, another one of her friends approached me. “Hey, (Girl) says….” “SHUT THE HELL UP.” I silenced the bus.

No one bothered to fuck with me after that, but I didn’t really make friends until 8th grade. I have some pretty great friends now.

Comments

  1. When I was in 7th grade a 9th grader (yeah my middle school went from 7-9) who was really stuck up and rude to me and one day when it was crowded in the hall I went up to her and kicked her. I just kicked her. Really hard. And I heard her say “ouch!” really loud. She didn’t know it was me and I was with my best friend and she was like “no don’t do it” but my rage took over. It was weird and awkward and I still feel like crap about it 13 years later! I’m still worried that my best friend lost respect for me that day, but we’ve never talked about it. I hope she forgot.

  2. Zero real friends – the best I could manage were people I could hang out with if they weren’t busy with anything else. Teased and mocked daily at school. Kid from a family worth >>> $100,000,000 once attacked me in the hallway at school, I put him in a headlock so he would stop hitting me and both of us were prohibited from going to Chuck E Cheese that afternoon and had to pick up bits of trash from the soccer field, but he claimed that my headlock had given him a migraine so he didn’t have to clean the field but got to go home instead. Was about a foot taller than everybody else and had extra weight on top of that so had zero coordination and completely blew at sports. Missed a few days of school for grandma’s funeral and when I came back was so completely lost in the new math section (trig) and nobody helped me catch up so the school decided that I wasn’t smart after all and moved me down to the slow group.

  3. There was this one time where one of my friends hit his head against the corner of the lockers which resulted in a nasty gash and puddle of blood surrounding him.

  4. When I was in middle school, my best friend was dating a kid that did drugs and was taken out of school for sexual harassment. A teacher got slapped and cussed at by a student, and the food was awful.
